you have got a lot of information on ur blog and have points for both arguments- art house being worthwhile whereas hollywoood being repetitive.
Questions: Art house may have different conventions to each other but hollywood is much more popular amonst the audience. so why are people more interested in repetitive conventions that new and unique?
Most successful art house films feature hollywood stars moulin rouge (nicole kidman)and kill bill (uma thurman). does that mean audiences are looking for familiar faces for the film to gain their attention?
arthouse films have also used adaptations and sequels eg City of God and The Three Colours trilogy
arthouse can also been seen as a genre, consistently has a complex narrative and a protagonist who rarely expresses their feeling through dialogue. therefore, its films are not any different from genre.

Repetitive narrative sells, like Harry Potter and James Bond
